One for each bridesmaid, one for the maid of honour, one each for the two mums, and one for the bride. Then decide on flower girls and anyone else in the room.

The basic headcount

Start with everyone who will be in the getting-ready photos. That's the bride, every bridesmaid, and the maid of honour. Then add the people who'll be in the room but not in the party. In my experience that's usually the mother of the bride, the mother of the groom, and sometimes a grandmother or a sister who isn't a bridesmaid.

A typical order looks like this: bride, 4 bridesmaids, 2 mums, 1 flower girl. That's 8 robes.

Who else brides forget

  • The mother of the groom. If she's coming to the getting-ready, she'll feel left out without one. The Kiralee Robe in dusty rose is a lovely mum option.
  • Flower girls. The Jasmine Petite Robe is the kids' version of the adult Jasmine, so the photo matches.
  • The hair and makeup team. No. They're working. Don't.
  • The bride's own spare. Worth it if you're having a first look and want a different robe for photos afterwards.

Jasmine Short Robe — short satin bridesmaid robe in white

Should the bride's robe be different?

Yes. Same style, different colour is the simplest rule. Bride in white or ivory, party in one shared colour. The Bride embroidered robe does the job without any thinking.

Order one spare?

If the party is six or more, I'd order one extra in a middle size. Someone always changes their mind about a size the week before. Unworn items can be exchanged within 14 days.

Free standard shipping Australia-wide on orders over $250 AUD ($10 under that), express is $25, and most Australian orders arrive in 1–4 business days, 5–10 for remote areas. Allow an extra 2 business days over the Christmas period. Bundle four or more matching robes, slips or sleepwear sets and you get 15% off.

'Bride' Embroidered Robe — satin robe embroidered with the word Bride across the back

Quick answers

Do the mums get the same colour as the bridesmaids?

Usually a different, softer colour so they stand out in photos. Champagne or dusty rose works with most bridesmaid colours.

What about the groom's side?

Grooms and groomsmen tend to get eye masks or boxer shorts rather than robes. We make both.

Can I order different sizes of the same robe in one order?

Yes, each robe is chosen by size at checkout.
