Our Coco Teddy Christmas print is a limited edition. We print it once, we never reprint it, and last year's design was gone before December was. To send this one off properly, Gold Coast artist Sibella Bonnor is live painting a brand new teddy print inside our Pacific Fair store on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December 2026. Free, no booking, and you get to watch a print being born.

Who is Sibella Bonnor?

Sibella is a young Queensland painter who works in acrylic on canvas. Horses are the centre of her work — she rides, she works around them, and she paints them. Every piece is done by hand, one at a time, as an original: no prints, no reproductions. She paints what she knows, the way it actually looks to her.

That last part is why we asked her. Her horses don't look like the horses in a homewares catalogue. The light is hinterland light, hot and low, and the animals look like animals rather than decoration. You can see her current originals at sibellabonnor.com.

What does limited edition actually mean at Homebodii?

It means one print, one run, one Christmas. We don't hold back stock for next year and we don't quietly reprint a bestseller in January. When the last kids' size goes, the Coco Teddy print is finished for good.

Plenty of brands say "limited" and mean "we'll see how it sells". We mean the file gets closed. There's a practical reason for it: a print designed to sell forever gets softened until it can't offend anyone, and what survives that process is usually beige. A print that only has to live for one December is allowed to be odd and specific and a little bit funny. The deadline is the thing that makes the design good.

It's the same logic as an original painting, just at a different scale. Sibella sells one of each thing she makes. We make one run of each print we draw. Neither of us can go back for more.

What's in the Coco Teddy Christmas range?

The whole family, in burgundy and green:

Two colours means you can split a family across both and it still reads as one set in the photo. Bundle four or more matching sleepwear sets and you get 15% off. Everything is Tencel, which matters on a 32-degree Queensland Christmas morning in a way that flannelette never will.

What happens at the live painting weekend?

Sibella sets up in the Pacific Fair boutique and paints a new teddy design from nothing to finished across two days. You'll see the parts nobody normally sees: the first marks, the versions that get painted over, the moment it stops being a sketch. Most prints arrive on a garment fully formed and anonymous, with no evidence a human made them. This one will have witnesses.

Why is a handmade print a better Christmas gift?

Here's the test. If the person opening your gift can reorder it in March, it's a nice present. If they can't — if it came from one run, in a print that will never be made again — it becomes an object with a date attached. They keep it longer. They remember which Christmas it was.

It's the same reason we put names on robes. You're not giving someone a product, you're giving them the one that's theirs. Embroidery does that with thread. A limited print does it with timing. Both work because they can't be repeated.

Why we make small runs instead of safe ones

Small runs let us gamble on a design a big production order would never allow. They mean far less unsold Christmas stock sitting in the warehouse in February. And they mean the people who buy it are holding something genuinely uncommon rather than something that was printed a hundred thousand times for a department store. We'd rather make a small amount of something we love than a mountain of something inoffensive.
