Homebodii Bride of the Month: Emily Lowe
A little bit about me…
My name is Emily Lowe. I am a primary school teacher who loves to travel and spend time with my little family. On the 5th July at The Lookout Woodbury, I married my handsome husband, Jay Murray-Lowe. It all started when two people swiped right in 2018 and we haven’t looked back ever since. After only being together for a few months, we moved states for my job and started the beginning of our lives together. We both share a love for travelling the world and have always got a holiday booked. In 2023 on Tannum Sands beach, replicating our first date alongside our dog Maple, Jay asked me to be his wife. Fast forward to today, we have a beautiful 7 month old daughter, Harriet. She is the light of our lives and we are so lucky to have shared our perfect wedding day with her.
Looking back, we’re so glad that we…
Chose ALL of our incredible vendors. Our venue, The Lookout Woodbury has absolutely breathtaking views and the lovely Michelle who owns it was a life saver. We chose a feasting style dinner, which was 3 meat and 3 salad/vegetables in the middle of each table and meant guests could take what they wanted. Everyone raved about how wonderful this was!
One of our favourite parts was hosting a meet and greet lunch the day before. This allowed us to get all the “small talk” out of the way and catch up with all our guests before the big day. This meant on our wedding day, we really got to enjoy our time together and celebrate with our favourite people rather than feeling inclined to walk around talking to everybody. We chose for the reception to have our bridal party sitting with the guests and just Jay and I at a “sweet-heart table” out the front. We loved this as it allowed us to have time to just us and chat and decompress during dinner. Lastly, I am so glad we chose our dress code to be formal black tie. We asked all guests to be dressed in black suits and long dresses. It truly made our day look classy and elegant and who doesn’t love a black dress moment!
The most unexpected part of the day was…
how calm and present I felt. Everyone says your wedding day flies by quickly so Jay and I made sure we took time to take a step back and take it all in. The day didn’t go as quickly as I thought, which I LOVED! It was relaxed, emotional and perfect.
When I look back now, I feel…
So lucky to have had such a perfect day. ALL of my vendors were incredible, the weather was a beautiful sunny winter day, and we were surrounded by all 44 of our favourite people. We loved, we drank, we laughed, we cried and we danced our way into the night- what could be more perfect. My photographer Luke Mears from Mears Productions did an AMAZING job at capturing photos and videos of us. A massive shout out to Luke who was a beautiful, calm presence and made the whole day FUN! I am so glad I get to relive our perfect day through his work. It is nothing short of incredible, I can’t stop looking at all my photos!
My advice to new brides would be…
To always go with your gut and enjoy every moment. Only invite the people you want there. You are paying per head and the day is about YOU! I loved that I got to celebrate with only the people I love. Book the vendors you want, even if they are a little more money. It is true that you pay for what you get. You only get to do this day once. Do not leave your new husband/wife’s side all day. Take the time to step back with them and take a deep breath that these people are here for you and really take it all in. Having a detailed run sheet with signed jobs for people. One of the jobs I have as my maid of honour was a photo list. I made a list of combinations and people I wanted photos with and she rounded all the people up so I wasn’t chasing people. She slowly ticked that off throughout the afternoon. Sticking to the run sheet on the day made it run so smoothly and everyone knew their job which meant I was stress free and no one was asking me questions.
My Homebodii moment was special because…
I got to feel beautiful, confident and elegant in my gorgeous set. Getting ready that morning felt like I was in a dream. I wore the Rylee Lounge Set. I absolutely loved how soft and comfortable this set was. I chose to get the word “Bride” embroidered on it in blue, which matched my bridesmaids and gave me my “something blue”. There is something so special about having a “bride” memento now. My bridesmaids and Mum also wore Homebodii pyjamas. They were dressed in the Toni Lounge Pyjama sets in blue. They had white embroidered names on the pockets which gave a personalised touch. Both sets worked beautifully together and fitted the elegant theme of my wedding. Everyone felt comfortable and beautiful on our wedding morning and there is nothing else I would have wanted us to wear.
