Homebodii Bride of the Month: Elysia Casandra
A little bit about me...
I’m a TikTok software engineer with a love for fashion, the beach, and above all, family.
Our approach to planning the wedding was…
Intentional and personal. When it came to our wedding, I knew I wanted it to feel elevated and design-led, but still deeply sentimental. Charlie and I have been together since we were 15, so by the time we were engaged in 2023, we weren’t trying to create a moment - we were honouring a decade-long story. We chose to marry on Valentine’s Day because it has always meant something deeper to us and our families. We were married at Sunnyside Estate on the Mornington Peninsula, where we’ve summered our whole lives. We wove our love story throughout the day - from excerpts of our teenage Valentine’s Day cards printed on napkins to subtle nods to my Greek heritage through olive tree boubounieria, fig-scented candles, a Greek-inspired menu, and a zeimbekiko father–daughter dance. Every decision had to feel like us.
Looking back, we’re so glad that we…
Didn’t get swept up in trends that didn’t add value to our experience. We didn’t do an elaborate wedding cake or fill the space with flowers just because it’s expected. Instead, we invested in elements that felt meaningful and lasting.
The most unexpected part of the day was…
Charlie’s nan being there. She had been in hospital in the lead-up to the wedding, and we truly didn’t know if she would make it. Seeing her attend meant more to him than anything else. It was a quiet, emotional moment in the middle of such a big celebration - and one we’ll never forget.
When I look back now, I feel…
Overwhelmingly grateful and so lucky. It was one of those rare days where everything just felt right - calm, joyful, emotional, and completely reflective of us. After growing up together, it felt surreal and beautiful to stand in front of everyone we love and mark that chapter.
My advice to new brides...
Design a day that is uniquely yours. Don’t build it from Pinterest boards or what you think a wedding “should” look like. If something doesn’t resonate with you, you don’t need to include it.
My Homebodii moment was special because...
I’ve always thought bridesmaid gifts should be beautiful but also practical. So many pieces are worn once and never again. My bridesmaids adored their personalised Toni Lounge Pyjama sets and will genuinely wear them for years to come.
